Another great short video by Ben Grubb, capturing the excitement of the day. And just like The Loft opening, this was worth the wait!

In the run up to the Castle’s Arctic themed Christmas party being held on Saturday 14th December, we’re holding a raffle, with some great prizes on offer to the lucky winners.

So what’s the reason behind the Arctic theme and what is the raffle raising money for, you may ask?

Hi there!  It's coming to that time of year again...

Our Castle Garden bonfire this year is on Sunday, November 3rd.  Join us in the garden from 2pm to help tidy the garden and build the bonfire and wickerman.  We will light up the bonfire around 4pm.  There will be cob fired pizzas on sale in the roundhouse.

Hope to see you there!

P.S. This event is weather dependant.  If it's looking really bad, we may need to postpone the event. Please check the website the day before just to be sure.

The student climbing wall safety seminar which the Castle ran at the end of September was a good success, attracting student leaders from University College London and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, giving us a chance to pass on effective teaching techniques to those who will be supervising and teaching new climbers in the centre. It also provided the students with a perfect opportunity to speak to the Castle Management and raise any issues they have regarding the centre.

The Castle has always been committed to development and research especially when it comes to climbing and facilities. In the name of research in the past years we have travelled to France to participate and network in  international events, toured all over the UK visiting the latest walls, and climbed around the country to get a feel for grading and styles. These trips have always been productive: we learnt a lot from others and took steps to implement changes as a result.

The Castle are hosting a climbing wall safety seminar aimed at student climbing club leaders who are going to be supervising and teaching new climbers in the centre, once the new academic year begins. Although the seminar is aimed at students, anyone with an interest in supervising novice climbers is welcome to attend. The first session will be run by The Castle's Managing Director, Audrey Seguy.

What is it? A two hour workshop for student club leaders who are going to be teaching/supervising new climbers.

The world’s best paraclimbers are set to compete at the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) Paraclimbing Cup in London this weekend (21-22 September).  The competition is being organised by the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) and will be held at the Westway Climbing Centre.

On the 21st and 22nd of September, visitors will have unprecedented access to The Castle and its gardens with guided tours. This year, London's biggest architecture festival, Open House London, coincides with the New River's 400th anniversary and Capital Growth's Edible Gardens Open Day.
