This month, we raise a glass to the Castle Garden’s 10 year anniversary with a selection of delicious and homegrown drinks!
The ingredients are handpicked right here, lovingly blended and made by our dedicated garden team and their volunteers.
Because these sustainable beverages are all made right here at the Castle, they’re all made with zero air miles and zero wastage. We’ll drink to that…
Putting our climbing skills to a sustainable use! This September the country enjoyed a bumper apple harvest. With an especially good crop, we couldn’t resist making the most of it.
As well as fruit from our own orchard, the team have been climbing local apple trees and collecting the excess amounts of fruit which would otherwise be left to rot. Next it was all hands on deck for a full day of apple pressing, collecting the juice which has been sustainably bottled in reused glass bottles or large 5-litre bags ready to be sold in the café.
The fresh, additive free and delicious apple juice is available whilst stocks last for £2.50 a bottle.
Rosehip and Hawthorn Berry cordial is the perfect seasonal beverage, with the additional benefit of boosting your immune system with a vitamin c hit as we head towards the chilly wintry days when colds can catch any of us out.
These cordials are made of all natural ingredients, and this batch is available in the café now. We’ve stored it bottled in reusable glass jars and we serve it in washable glasses, meaning no plastic is used at any stage of the cordial’s life.
You are cordially invited to come enjoy a glass for only £1… whilst stocks last!
Herbal Tea Blends
For a decaffeinated brew that’s all natural, look no further than our range of handpicked herbal teas. Each loose-leaf blend contains garden ingredients, from foraged wild plants like nettles to organically grown herbs. Each one is then picked and dried right here on the Castle premises, and the blends are expertly created by our garden and café teams. So not only are they utterly unique flavours, but there are zero food miles or carbon emissions involved in their production.
And if you want to take them away, they’re available to buy in eco-friendly packaging to take home and enjoy too.
£1.70 for a mug of tea at the Castle, £5for a 20g bag to enjoy at home (that's about 20 cups of tea). If you're already planning your Christmas presents, this is a popular stocking filler!

Garden 10 Year Anniversary
2019 marks the 10 year anniversary of the Castle's incredible permaculture garden, where ingredients for all these delicious drinks have grown. Built on sustainable permaculture principles, the multi award-winning garden has gone from strength to strength in the last 10 years, and is now responsible for growing produce for the café, including a huge variety of fresh fruits, delicious vegetables and vibrant, unusual salads – much tastier than bland supermarket varieties! – as well as the drinks you've read about here.
