The Session & WWA

The Session is a free social drop-in service offered to registered climbers at the Castle. Hosted by one of our experienced climbing staff you'll always be guaranteed a belay or bouldering partner for the evening. You might even meet some really nice people!

Monday-Friday, 7 to 9pm
Saturday and Sunday, 2 to 5pm

Wednesdays are specifically aimed at helping people boulder more confidently. The rest of the week’s sessions are usually focused on top-rope routes.

Please ask the receptionist to point out the evening’s facilitator when you arrive.

* We do not run The Session or WWA over Bank Holiday weekends.

Women With Altitude

WWA is a women only bouldering session held three times a month on Monday evenings from 7 to 9pm.  This is a free service* available to women of all abilities who are registered members of the Castle. It’s an informal and unstructured chance to boulder with other women.

* There is no extra charge for these sessions beyond our standard wall entry fee.

Climbing with other women can improve your strengths, helping you to focus on problems specific to female climbers.

The WWA sessions is hosted by Sonia, an experienced female climber who is there to inspire confidence, be a central meeting point for everyone taking part, as well as to help with any climbing related queries that you may have. She is also there to encourage you to try new and different things.

Keep any eye our on our FB page for next months dates or check the poster on the Reception notice board next time you're in.

Please note: these sessions are not coaching and the facilitators will not provide instruction or give coaching tips. They are there to facilitate the meeting of like-minded people to climb together.

If you're interested in learning new skills or taking your climbing to the next level, take a look at our range of coaching sessions or movement and technique clinics.
