Six Things You Can Do At The Castle this Spring… As well as climbing!

Image:

March signals the start of meteorological spring. To celebrate the Spring Equinox today, here are six activities in addition to climbing you can enjoy, only at the Castle this spring.

1. Make friends at the Social

Celebrating a return to more relaxed social climbing, now is the time to find your place in the Castle climbing community. There are so many interesting and exciting people climbing here, and so many ways to meet them.

First up, our chance to plug The Castle Social – our twice weekly climbing social for over 18s. The Social is here for your belayer buddy needs, with a Castle team member on hand to help facilitate… in fact it’s proving so successful this spring we’re looking at increasing it from two to three days a week.

We’ve also seen the welcome return of many other climbing societies to the wall, including Paraclimbing London, Not So Trad and newer clubs like Climbmuz and Asian Climbing Crew all hosting meet ups here. Whoever you are, you can guarantee a warm welcome at the Castle.

2. Try Yoga or Pilates in our newly refurbished Studio

Supplement your climbing with yoga or pilates, a great way to include conditioning and stretching in your movement. Supple strength is a climbers best friend, and with our newly refurbished Studio ready to welcome you to a pleasant, purpose-built space you will be able to leave in the perfect frame of mind. We have a range of teachers at the Castle so you can pick what’s right for you. Book direct with the instructors.

Classes take place on Thursdays (Yoga with Sophie), Fridays (Pilates with Sarah) and Sundays (Pilates with Elsie).

3. Learn to Forage for your Supper

Brand new for 2022, the Castle Garden is excited to host Flavour Fred’s “Meet Your Ingredients” monthly sessions. These events include a flavour-led foraging walk and epic 4-course banquet using your foraged finds supplemented with produce from our organic Garden accompanied by wild cocktails. Flavour Fred will be teaching the identification techniques, folklore and the history associated with wild ingredients.

Plus, for a limited time enjoy a 15% discount for anyone booking before 25th March 2022!

4. Shop New Season in the Castle Shop

If you’ve had a bit of a spring clear out and need a bit of a refresher, the Castle Shop has just had a bumper delivery of new season stock for you to treat yourself to. The new in selection includes all your favourite climbing brands, whether you’re looking for sustainable and stylish climbing clothing, gear to set you up for the summer outdoor season and last you for years to come, or perhaps the incoming delivery of BlueSign accredited Edelrid ropes will catch your eye. All our stock is carefully sourced to ensure you get quality products, well-made with as minimal environmental impact as possible.

5. Join the Reuser Coffee Cup Revolution!

We all know single use cups aren’t the best things for the planet – even the compostable ones that we’ve been using up until now still use resources to produce and transport, even if they do biodegrade afterwards. So by moving to Reuser cups, we’re reducing our impact even further and we’re here for it.
