Spring Equinox Celebration 2017

An energetic wind was present on Saturday 18th March. Children, grabbing pencils and paper set off with parents in tow, eager to explore and search for signs that the garden is gearing up to spring; birds building nests, buds, blossoms, and bees. Of course for some it was necessity to see how many worms, woodlice and other creatures under logs they could find as well! As is tradition, they all discovered a well-earned treat at the end of the trail.

Spring has arrived and the amount of new salad leaves now being harvested is testament to that!

Novice Supervision Policy Changes

Knot

We’re making changes to our novice supervision policy!

Novice supervision is a great way to introduce your friends and family to climbing, to boulder with them and to belay them when they do their first roped climbs. Here’s the lowdown on the changes we’re introducing from April 3rd 2017.

What’s happening?

Castellers of London

Great follow up from the Castellers about their recent event held in our Garden... Here's what they had to say:

'Can you think of a better place to perform a human towers workshop and having a calcotada than in the garden at The Castle Climbing Centre? Neither could we!

Last weekend the Castellers of London had a great opportunity not only to show off our towers, but to invite new people to take part with us. Besides, the Castle had kindly allowed us to have a very special barbecue, a calçotada, afterwards!

Youth Climbing Series

The Castle is proud to be hosting the third round of the London & South East North Youth Climbing Series (YCS) on 25th March. The routes will be harder than before and competitors will be putting in their best efforts to see if they can gain a top three placing overall which will have them heading to the Grand Finals in April up at Ratho Edinburgh. Here's the low-down on how it works and what happened in the past two rounds.

Castle Wild after school club

Castle Wild after-school sessions are starting again this week.
They are fun and informal forest-school type sessions, for 7 to 13 year olds.
Each session is structured to include games, activities such as arts & crafts, bushcraft skills, free play / self-directed time, and time at the end to reflect and share around the fire.

While it’s pretty clear we’re keen on reducing our environmental impact, from our rigorous recycling system to the permaculture garden, there’s more than meets the eye under the surface of the centre.
