Every October universities from around London, such as UCL,LSE bring new climbers to the Castle to let them try climbing for the first time. We are delighted that they have chosen the Castle as a space for their new climbing club members to have a go and learn the ropes in a safe environment.
At the Castle we work closely with the clubs to make sure there is minimum disruption to the centre due to the large numbers of new climbers. We want to also keep our current customers, you guys, in the loop about this.

Curious about the new Wild Country Revo belay device? Staff Member and coach, Jock on a Rope shares his thoughts...
I am what you would call a dyed in the wool Gri-Gri lover/abuser and I don’t mean the sad impersonators of late, no I am referring to the original and best. So you can imagine when I was offered up the use of the new spangly kid on the block (we have seen this before) REVO from Wild Country, I wasn’t exactly chomping at the bit to have a go.

Urban Harvest is a celebration of all of the tasty produce that has come from the garden over the year, as well as of the hard graft and collaboration- between insects, animals and people, that has taken place.
It's also a celebration of the autumn equinox.
- Garden Cafe (seating under cover if needed) - serving teas, cordials and glorious garden harvest goodies - including cob oven baked bruschettas, and sweet treats!
- autumn equinox mandala and the community poem board.

Eighteen years ago, we created Women With Altitude, a facilitated women’s climbing session, alongside our mixed Session. These are aimed at getting like-minded people together to climb. Whether you are without a partner or fresh to the wall, it is a great way to meet new people.
We’ve now decided to create a new Women’s Bouldering session at the Castle every Thursday, 7-9pm. So what is this new session and why are we running it?
Why are we making these changes?

In the build up to Paraclimbing London's next public event, we're releasing two incredible articles from Anoushé Husain, the groups founder and Castle sponsored athlete. In this article Anoushé explores what (and who) motivates us to climb.
Why did you start climbing?
I started because a friend of mine thought it would be a great way of rehabilitating myself following cancer treatment. When I ask other climbers how they started, it’s often because someone they know is already climbing or they have come upon the sport without planning to and decided to try it out.
