Food, Drink & Climbing Festival

Saturday 11th July
12pm - 7pm

All Welcome!

What's on.......

  • Castle Wood Fired Pizzas

The Castle will be cooking up a feast of pizzas again. Homemade by our chefs and cafe staff, all the toppings, (apart from the cheese) will be picked fresh, on the day, from the Castle garden. The pizzas are cooked  right in front of you in our wood fired cob oven.

  • Jed’s Foods

A regular at Stoke Newington Farmer’s market, Jed’s Foods will be providing something different to get your teeth into, alongside our own wood fired pizzas. The two James’ will be serving delicious organic, locally sourced and seasonal burgers; come and try their vegan bean burger or wild garlic mushroom burger.

  • Rejuce Juice Bar

We are happy to announce that Rejuce will be rejuicing at the Castle Garden Party, providing yummy tasting healthy juices that are completely and utterly ethically sound.
Each year the UK’s food industry throws away over 400,000 tonnes of fruit & veg - the equivalent of 2,700,000,000 (billion) Granny Smith apples. Imagine, if laid flat they would cover 2,700 football pitches.
Rejuce are doing everything in their power to address the nonsense of food surplus through Reducing, Reusing and Refreshing. They produce delicious and nutritional drinks, using some of London’s biggest food surpluses, carefully selecting the best produce.

  • Cakes & Sweet Goodies

Loads of cakes and other sweet goodies will be on sale, catering to all diets, provided for by the Castle chefs, Mariam and PACT Manor House.

  • Nick’s Botanical Cocktail Bar

People have enjoyed foods and beverages made with botanicals for thousands of years. Nick’s drink menu utilizes these botanicals to create a whole genre of cocktails, full of health-promoting herbs that are not only good for you but taste great!

It’s not all about the food and drink however. We are a climbing wall after all!

  • Outdoor Boulder reset & Mini Comp

The outdoor boulders will have a new set of problems for all the climbers amongst you to enjoy. Amongst the new set will be a number of fun blocs (marked-up) that form part of a mini competition. You don’t have to be a professional climber or an expert to compete; the competition will have beginners problems included for those who’ve never entered a comp before. Often the thrill comes in just testing yourself against yourself or your friends.

  • Dyno Sessions

The famous Castle dyno comp will not be taking place at the party this year (we will be running it one evening in the summer instead). In its place we will running some ‘free’ dyno workshops for everyone to get involved in.
We know there are lots of climbers who love the dyno comp but wouldn’t dream of taking part; trying to leap for holds that look so far away, in front of an expectant crowd isn’t for everyone! But we do know that loads of you would love to give it a try. So why not come and join in on one of our special one hour workshops, where one of our experienced instructors will give you some tips on dyno techniques and get you trying out some specific dyno problems. Once you’ve mastered the ‘skillz’ we’ll set the dyno holds and see how far you can fly!

  • Music and other great stuff!

Live music from Antarma & the family tree from 1.30pm to get you all in the mood with some reggae/hip hop summer sounds,  before our resident DJ Jamie takes over for the last few hours and gets you geared up for a Saturday night on the tiles.

Anne Quinn (BSc Medical Herbalist & Soap Maker) will be selling some of her gorgeous handmade soaps; made from pure and natural ingredients. Anne also runs workshops teaching you how to make your own natural skin cream and soaps at the Soap Kitchen.

Plus we will have fun activities to keep the kids entertained, including arts and crafts and face painting.
