The Castle is proud to support YES Outdoors, a charity that engages with at risk youth through adventure based mentoring (including climbing). The climbing team is led by Castle climber Sergeant Tony Quinn and he is leading the charge to recruit new volunteers to work with young people on a one-to-one basis. All volunteers will receive formal training.
On the 21st and 22nd of September, visitors will have unprecedented access to The Castle and its gardens with guided tours. This year, London's biggest architecture festival, Open House London, coincides with the New River's 400th anniversary and Capital Growth's Edible Gardens Open Day.
Do you want to show your friends where you spend all your free time? Or maybe you're new to climbing and want to check out The Castle before your first visit? Maybe you're simply curious about that great big Castle in North London...
Want to relive the best moments of the Garden Party? Maybe you couldn't make it and want to see what the fuss is about... Ben Grubb's latest video captures the great vibe of the day. We also have a photo gallery of the event.

All the Castle community mourns Felix's death in Yosemite on the 2nd of June 2013. Felix, 28, was a regular climber at The Castle and worked for a brief time in the shop (when it was run by Urban Rock). He was climbing East Buttress on El Capitan when he was hit and killed instantly by rock fall.
We are pleased to announce that the Castle's permaculture garden has won Best Food Growing Project at the Hackney in Bloom 2013 Awards.
This category awards projects where food growing is the main focus. Judges look for quality of produce, sustainable practices and examples of innovation. The project must also be visible to the public.
The Garden Boulders were officially opened at the Castle's Garden party on Sunday, 21st of July. The Dyno Comp, taking place on the West Side of The Battleship Boulder drew large crowds both in The Castle and from people passing by on Green Lanes. Many of the climbers rediscovered the old Featured Wall, in its new reincarnation as The Featured Boulder. Two of the boulders (Trackside and Battleships) have 6 circuits on them. The Boulders will be open when the centre is open (12pm weekdays, 10am weekends) and close 15 minutes before closing time or dusk (whichever is earliest).
