Reporting our progress on the latest Castle Developments - new climbing walls, new boulders, better facilities... there's always something happening!

Outdoor boulder field: Crispin Waddy (Living Stone Climbing Walls) is expecting to finish the outdoor boulders today. Next steps are to put in the rubber chipping which will form the landing surface and to finish the decking and landscaping around the boulders. We're on schedule to open them at The Garden Party on Sunday the 21st of July.

The boulder mats for the new Loft Wall and Boulder (above the Cafe) were put in place yesterday. Now all we need are some grips and stairs!

The outdoor boulder field is also taking shape, though we've been delayed due to the wet and windy weather.

This week has been all about our new OUTDOOR BOULDERS!!!! They're here and they're...big. There is still some work to be done to get them in place. Two of them (the red and grey ones) were built off site and brought in by truck yesterday. The third one will be assembled on site from the old featured wall that was by the cafe. The landing will be recycled shredded rubber.  The boulders don't have any t-nuts in them- we're going to be screwing the holds directly onto the skin.

After weeks of waiting, the hoarding's come down, the paint has dried and the setters have done their thing.  The Comp Wall, replacing the featured wall by the cafe, opened on Monday the 8th of April. Offering the full-range of climbing- slab, steep and roof- our newest area has been very popular.

Coming soon will be a fun tunnel area next to the cafe for kids (and adults) to explore!
