Growing Communities, a Hackney-based social enterprise has won the Veg and Fruit Category at the Soil Association Organic Food awards. Food is grown in a 'patchwork farm' - a series of microsites around London, of which The Castle is one of the first. Salads grown at The Castle go into their organic box scheme (which can also be collected at The Castle), sold to local restaurants and, of course, makes its way into The Castle Cafe as well!
This is just the latest accolade for The Castle Garden- it was featured recently in an article in the Sunday Times. The Castle Cafe won the City of London's Sustainable City Award for Sustainable Food this year and The Castle Garden is also this year's winner for Hackney in Bloom's Best Food Growing Project category.
Hooray for us!
The Castle won the Sustainable Building and Sustainable Procurement Awards at the 2011/2012 Sustainable City Awards. More sustainability...
