The Castle Access Pass: FAQs


We've just introduced the new Castle Access Pass to replace our previous membership plans. Here are some of our frequently asked questions. If this does not answer your query, or you have a specific enquiry about your own status, please contact us on


Simply head to reception to Purchase your Access Pass – it only takes a few minutes. You’ll need your card details and be asked to pay a prorated fee that takes you from the day you begin you plan through to the end of the month. The first payments will be taken via e-billing on the 1st of the month. Your Access Pass is valid for the full month and will auto renew unless cancelled (see below). We cannot backdate Access Passes.

How to Book

You can book your climbing slot online. Choose the Access Pass option to purchase your slot. You can also book for your climbing partner or family members that are climbing with you at the same time, but you’ll need to know their details too. You’ll be charged for their visits if they don’t also hold an Access Pass, just click on the correct option at the time of booking. All bookings will be checked against the customers member type upon entry and customers with the wrong type of booking will be charged before they can climb!

If you don’t have an Access Pass yet but you want to start one you can book you slot using the access pass option and set it up at reception when you arrive. 

You can create a log-in online to make booking quicker and simpler too!


Head to reception 15mins before your booked slot, who’ll get you checked in and give you a wrist band. Then you’re ready to start your session.

If you have any novices or free guests (see Introduce a Friend below) with you you’ll need to make sure the relevant forms are completed and that your free guest is checked off your Pass. 


The Access Pass gives you 75% of climbing time included. If you want to climb outside that time, a small to-up of £4.50 is payable. This will automatically be calculated when booking.

Stay All Day

If you want to climb for longer than the 2hr slot, that’s fine. You’ll just need to book the slots you wish to stay for. So if you want to arrive at 12pm and stay until 6pm you’ll need to book a 12pm, a 2pm AND a 4pm slot. You can book different types of climbing if you like too!

Introduce a Friend

You can bring one newbie a month and introduce them to The Castle under your pass. Just select the correct option when booking. 

Using your Café and Shop Discount

Your Access Pass gives you 10% off in both The Café and The Shop. Just show your current monthly invoice (this is emailed to you every month when your payment is taken). If you’ve just bought an Access Pass you’ll receive an email confirmation with the Ts & Cs which you can use until your first invoice comes through.

Everything Else

Offers, discounts and priority booking details will be emailed to you at the relevant times. You can keep up to date an all things membership on the My Membership Page of the website.

Need to Cancel

If you’re heading on holiday, moving away or just taking a break you can stop your Access Pass for the next month. Just let us know before the next months payment is taken and we’ll cancel it for you. We’ve made the billing date the 1st of each month so it’s easy to remember. You pay for a full months climbing in advance and we cannot give partial refunds so just be sure to let us know you want to cancel by the end of the month. It’s easy to restart when you return!
