This is a full time position. You'll be responsible for overseeing the Shops daily operations (from staff recruitment and welfare through to stock management, sales and accounting) and it's on-going development.
We're looking for someone to do the following tasks:
Recruitment and staff management (with support from our HR department);
Staff training and development;
Developing the Shop to ensure it better meets the needs the Castle and our customers;
Ensuring adherence to the Castle Health & Safety Policy;
Managing stock for the shop including ordering and supplier relations;
Maintaining basic accounting routines;
Advertising and promoting the shop;
Reporting to the Senior Management Team and Board;
Promoting environmentally sustainable products and shopping;
Working with the wider team to provide a friendly, efficient service for our customers and staff
Ideally we're looking for someone with experience managing in the outdoor retail sector, with a good practical knowledge of all forms of climbing and of the equipment required. This position requires a good level of numeracy and literacy, ability to communicate well - and an outgoing personality! You'll need a positive approach to ensure excellent customer service.
