The Castle’s Squad offers specialist training for elite young climbers training to compete in regional, national and international competitions. The Competition Squad trains three times a week at The Castle. Launched by 3x national champion Audrey Seguy, the Squad has made great progress since it started in 2009. Key achievements include: having a member selected for the British Junior Climbing Team, competing in the national championships and qualifying for the national finals of the BMC Youth Competition Series.
To be eligible for selection, climbers must be at least 10 years old and know how to lead climb and belay competently. Climbers must take part in the Comp Squad Trials held at The Castle in July. As a guideline, girls should be lead climbing (on-sight) around 6b and boys should be on-sighting around 6c+.
